A Fair Deal for Migrant Workers in China
The SIYB China programme is facilitated by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security (MOLSS) with technical support from the ILO. The objective is to contribute to the alleviation of poverty in the South-Western Region of China. The immediate programme objectives are to strengthen the capacity of MOLSS and its local executing agencies to facilitate the integration of farmers-turned-migrants into the urban economy and society of selected provinces in China; strengthen the capacity of both public and private sector support organizations in the local labour markets to supply support services to migrant workers; and enable these migrant workers to secure income from self-employment, and create wage employment opportunities for other migrant workers in the process. The three strategic initiatives that are crucial to the technical, institutional and eventual financial sustainability of the programme include training capacity development, brand support and quality control.
