National Labour Forum: Trade Union and Labour Reforms and affirming Social Dialogue in Brazil

The project “National Labour Forum: Trade Union and Labour Reforms and affirming Social Dialogue in Brazil” has as its main objective to support the activities of the National Labour Forum (FNT), a forum that promotes social dialogue and encourages negotiation on the labour relations reform in Brazil. The main objective of the project is to contribute to encouraging social dialogue in order to promote the democratization of labour relations through the adoption of a free and autonomous trade union regime, as contemplated in ILO’s normative instruments. The immediate objective of the project is to strengthen the process of discussion and negotiation on reforming the national labour relations system – with the participation of different actors and segments of society – in order to serve as an input in the elaboration of future projects and governmental measures in the trade union and labour areas. The expected outcomes include: 1. A strengthened National Labour Forum. 2. Systematic dissemination of the FNT results. 3. Design of legislative proposals to be presented by the Executive Branch to the National Congress. 4. Social actors trained in issues related to the legislation of labour relations so that they have the necessary tools to participate in tripartite social dialogue units. 5. Establishment of the National Council on Labour Relations. 6. Creation of a system to assemble information on labour relations in Brazil, developed to support the FNT debates and the administration and monitoring of public policies of the Ministry of Labour and Employment. 7. Dissemination and debate over the Hemispheric and National Agendas for Decent Work.
