Teaching five Master-level courses at Maastricht University

The ILO has collaborated with the University of Maastricht (UM) to develop post-graduate training for financial specialists in social protection. Together with the UM Graduate School of Governance a joint Master course in Social Protection Financing (SPF) has been established to train experts in social protection and social protection financing for social security institutions, insurance companies, governments, research institutions and consultancies. For ILO, this represents a precious opportunity for capacity building for improved governance in developing social security schemes. Assistance under this project was provided for academic year 2005/06, and covered ILO costs of delivering the following five Master courses in the Programme: (1) Financing social protection (2) Social budgeting (3) Actuarial mathematics and actuarial practice in social protection (4) Quantitative techniques in health care financing (5) Social policy design and international law Teaching included the formulation and subsequent correction of final exams, and the preparation of revised, up-to-date versions of the course block-books (annotated course outlines).
