Eliminating the WFCL in Brazil-Support for the TBP on the Elimination of WFCL
The Addendum of the project “Eliminating the worst forms of child labour in Brazil – Support for the Time- Bound Programme on the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour” (TBP ADD) comes as a need to create new outputs that ensure the sustainability of the benefits of the project and to further strengthen the national systems to combat child labour. The addendum attempts to fulfil the following needs: · better integrate the PETI extended school hours activities with the formal school educational programmes, · to integrate the health and education systems in the processes for identification and referral of child labour cases to the competent authorities or programmes, · to provide instruments to civil society organizations to participate in the elaboration, approval and monitoring of public budgets on child labour related issues, and · to unify criteria between government agencies and civil society organizations for facilitating the creation of child labour monitoring systems, including child trafficking and other WFCL as an urgent priority. Even though the project objectives remain the same, the addendum contemplates the extension of the project duration and of the geographical area of the intervention, thus increasing the number of beneficiaries. It aims to elaborate and implement a protocol concerning the Programme for the Eradication of Child Labour (PETI) extended school hours programme, integrate information on working boys and girls into the standard school registration form and the public Common Health System entrance forms, to develop operational workplans for the elimination of the worst forms of child labour in each targeted state, and to implement a pilot monitoring system for public programmes dealing with child labour.
