ILO/EEC Asian Programme on the Governance of Labour Migration (APGLM)

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the promotion of rights and gender-based governance of labour migration and the protection of Asian migrant workers from exploitative and abusive treatment. Main activities : Asian regional dialogues : One regional and three subregional dialogues will be organized to provide opportunities for national authorities responsible for labour migration to meet and exchange information on their experiences with using various tools and strategies to influence migration and its outcomes. Training: Regional training seminars will be organized to familiarize senior level officials with ‘best’ practices in the planning and administration of migration policy; national training and workshops with the constituents and social partners to raise the awareness on migrant workers . Advisory services : Through the project, the ILO will expand the advisory services it is providing member States on the matters related to labour migration, statistics, remittances, etc. Policy research : Research will be undertaken in support of policy reform and advocacy in collaboration with research centres in Asia and the Pacific.
