Smart community project in Iraq
Project Objective This is an ILO/ESCWA project funded by the UNDITF. ILO component $105,000. The lead agency for implementation of the project is ESCWA. The ILO component is implemented in coordination with the project manager of ESCWA. The overall development objective of the project is to build local and national capacity for creating employment and relieving poverty in Iraq on the basis of modern technology inputs. Project outcomes (ILO component): · Trainers at the Smart Communities Project (SCP) facilities enabled to provide advisory services to local beneficiaries utilizing SCP facilities. · Training material and modules customized, and input for advocacy and media campaigns to highlight successes and build upon achievements provided. Main activities: Two components: Consultancy/advisory services and training. ILO will: · Provide business management training workshops on” How to Start Your Own Business” to at least 15 participants from Iraq (potential trainers at the SCP) in Jordan or Lebanon; customization and development of training material and modules with view to the situation in Iraq. · Consultancies and advisory services on designing enterprise support services with emphasis on small and micro enterprises operating in agro-food processing, as well as providing input for media campaigns.
