Capacity enhancement of Ministry of Labour through the establishment of a Labour Market Information and Analysis Unit
The Ministry of Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis is establishing a Labour Market Information and Analysis (LMIA) Unit. The purpose of this project is to provide international technical support for the creation and successful functioning of this Unit. The LMIA Unit will have responsibility for assembling, organizing, analysing and disseminating up-to-date and timely information and analysis on labour markets in Pakistan. The LMIA Unit will work in close collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Statistics and Provincial Departments of Labour in identifying and targeting the collection and transfer of vital information for decent employment policies, poverty alleviation and the targets set out in the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The immediate outputs of the project include capacity building of the LMIA Unit through training and workshops, development of an LMIA database and dissemination of LMIA through the production of labour market reports and other dissemination channels.
