Sustainable elimination of child bonded labour in Nepal – Phase II.

The project has eight outputs altogether that contribute to four overall objectives. The outputs are based on the provision of education (formal and non-formal) for children of freed kamaiyas and Haruwa/Charuwa in western and eastern parts of Nepal. The project has outputs in relation to developing the institutional capacity of agriculture workers’ organizations for the effective implementation of national labour standards in agriculture. The project also has outputs in increasing gainful employment in agriculture and other non-agriculture sectors. The project envisions the review of the Kamaiya Labour Prohibition and Regulation Act and the Child Labour Prohibition and Regulation Act to harmonize between them and to amend them in line with the spirit of the ILO Conventions Nos. 138, 182, 105 and 29.
