The project will extend assistance to the Governments of Bahrain and Oman as well as to employers’ and workers’ organizations to implement and enforce internationally recognized labour rights. Such rights include: a) freedom of association; b) the right to organize and bargain collectively; c) the prohibition on the use of any form of forced or compulsory labour; d) labour protections for children and young people; e) acceptable conditions of work and occupational safety and health. The major outputs will focus on training through a series of seminars for trade unions and employers and others concerned; review of the general effectiveness of labour inspection system and dispute settlements systems; revitalize the organization and management of the labour inspection system, improve reporting and monitoring system; and improve the data flow for reporting.
