Improvement of occupational safety and health in south-eastern Europe
The International Labour Office, the World Health Organization, the International Organisation of Employers and the European Trade Union Confederation are joining forces in a project aimed at providing support to stimulate social dialogue for improving occupational safety and health (OSH) in the countries of south-eastern Europe (SEE) including in Albania, BiH (FBIH and RS), Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia. The first phase of the project (led by the ILO) assesses the situation in each of the participating SEE countries with regard to the existing OSH policies, legislation, practice and programmes of the government and social partners. Based on this information, a regional meeting of relevant experts from SEE will look into the next steps needed to fill the gaps and respond to the needs as identified during the initial screening process and thus fine-tune Phase II of the project.
