Peer review of the Report on the actuarial valuation of the Public Authority for Social Insurance of the Sultanate of Oman
The Social Insurance System of Oman is in place since 1992. The Public Authority for Social Insurance is undertaking regular actuarial reviews as required by its statutes. These valuations have so far been conducted with the support of a regional actuarial consultancy firm. As the Government of Oman is conscious of maintaining a high standard of financial governance and transparency across its public institutions, it has requested the ILO to provide a peer review of the last actuarial valuation as of December 2005 to confirm the independence of the actuarial findings and recommendations. This provides an opportunity to share ILO guidelines in the field of social security and actuarial practice. This contributes to ensure public confidence.
