Green Jobs (Bangladesh)
The project seeks to support development of new skills, particularly for women entrepreneurship in solar system and solar technicians were developed and new green jobs were generated. Green jobs include ‘decent’ jobs that help to reduce consumption of energy and raw materials, de-carbonize the economy, protect and restore ecosystems and biodiversity and minimize the production of waste and pollution. In Bangladesh the Green Jobs initiative pilot project is part of an ILO regional programme launched from in 2008 covering three countries namely: Bangladesh, China and India. Besides playing a key role in introducing, raising awareness and popularising the concept of green jobs to the stakeholders, the project aims to contribute to laying the basis for an expansion of the green jobs programme in Bangladesh.
