Social Entrepreneurship targeting youth in South Africa

The first direct outcome of the project will be increased awareness about, and appreciation of, the concept of social entrepreneurship development in the context of the policy debate on youth employment promotion through small enterprise development, and where applicable a refined national youth employment promotion policy framework that is cognizant of social entrepreneurship as one engine of promoting youth employment. The second direct outcome of the project will be sustainable institutional capacity embodied in community-based Business Development Services organizations to offer differentiated services business start-up training and related services geared towards the Youth. The third direct outcome will at least 100 social businesses established and at least 1,000 jobs for young people created in the pilot communities. The fourth direct outcome will be a range of social services and environmental protection services made either newly available and/or more accessible to the local community through the businesses started by the project beneficiaries.
