Programme of Support to the National Time-Bound Programme on the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour
This Project will aim at strengthening and making use of existing initiatives to combat child labour in Viet Nam, whose relevance and feasibility have been tested through time, and at facilitating the preparation of the national Road Map towards the elimination of all worst forms of child labour by the year 2020. The Road Map, which will be developed in 2010 and come into effect by 2011, will function as a Time Bound Programme (TBP) for the elimination of the worst forms of child labour. This Project’s main strategies and components will consist of improving the national knowledge base on child labour, policy-level work, harmonization of legislation and policies and the implementation of pilot projects in four target provinces. Awareness raising and social mobilisation, capacity building, gender mainstreaming and the creation of solid linkages with other on-going relevant initiatives will be cross-cutting strategies. The programme will employ an area-based approach in four target provinces. That is to say, that the pilot programmes will offer assistance to child workers in all places, regardless of sector, so that all child workers will be targeted by the project.
