Collaboration HCR-BIT: Programme d'appui à l'intégration socioéconomique des réfugiés en Afrique de l'Ouest
Under the framework of the ILO-UNHCR Partnership for the socio-economic integration of refugees, returnees and internally displaced persons (IDPs), ILO and UNHCR are able to rapidly deploy an ILO Sr. Regional Integration/Livelihoods Officer to UNHCR's country operations, supporting both the reintegration of returnees in their countries of origin, as well as refugees' self-reliance in their asylum context. The main responsibilities of the Sr. Officer include: (i) implementation of standards/policy procedures, facilitate development of regional and sub-regional strategies and monitoriong; (ii) provision of technical assistance, support, guidance and information exchange and transfer of knowledge of best practices and lessons learned; (iii) serve as training resources; (iv) coordinat with donors, partners, and agencies on policy issues and focus on advocacy on technical issues and; (v) report on activities and coordinate information sharing in the area of activity. The effort is approach from a regional perspective. It will not only benefit 73,000 refugees, but will also help to improve the quality of life of refugees and host communities and allow a more consistent and effective approach to regional issues such as child trafficking and livelihoods. The deployment will bring the required livelihood expertise to UNHCR and improve the design and implementation of livelihoods and integration strategies and projects at the field level, with the aim of ensuring sustainability of interventions and effective impact on refugees/IDPs lives and on solutions.
