ILO/Korea Partnership Programme towards the realization of the Asian decent work decade
Technical Unit: INTEGRATION 6 Priority Countries covered under the programme: Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Other countries covered under the programme: East Timor, India, Indonesia, Laos PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Thailand. Project Summary: The Government of Republic of Korea, through its Ministry of Labour, is providing contribution to ILO/Korea Partnership Programme to support the ILO efforts to make decent work a national reality. The thematic priorities and countries selected to support are based on the latest regional priorities and outcomes (2008-2009) which have been identified at a country-level by relevant tripartite constituents. It is also in alignment with national development strategies and priorities, and coherent with other national cooperative frameworks. The 2009 programme will focus on four areas of work: Competitiveness, Productivity and Jobs; Labour Market Governance and Social Protection; Labour Migration; and Research on Decent Work and Occupational Safety and Health. The work plan for 2009 includes creating job opportunities for disabled persons and green jobs, developing a skills institution network and a Laos-Korea Training Centre, setting up a social insurance system, developing a promotional framework on occupational safety and health at work, improving industrial relations in transition economies, skills recognition of migrant workers and labour migration management.
