Greener Business Asia (General Fund)

This project will help fill a gap in addressing questions of how to green the economy generally rather than focusing on sectors that are considered typically green. It will allow the development and testing of materials in real enterprises with delivery mechanisms that build on existing structures between workers and employers. The goal is to establish a workable support delivery mechanism which could facilitate scaling up and dissemination of the approach. Greener Business Asia (GBA) will help reduce poverty and environmental impact while ensuring decent work and enhancement of livelihoods for the poor. It will also help train leaders from tripartite bodies with a view to raising awareness on climate change and building capacity to develop requisite policies and programmes. This will be achieved by leveraging off the ILO’s experience on job creation, sectoral assistance and entrepreneurship development, to undertake research, training and knowledge sharing of examples of decent work practices at the enterprise level. At the same time, the project will actively seek to work with Japanese multinationals (MNEs) that have significant experience in promoting sound environmental practices at the enterprise level.
