Follow-up to the resolution on child labour statistics adopted at the 18th ICLS through methodological development and expansion of child labour data collection
The project elaborates a set of inter-related, targeted activities designed to address a few selected priorities in child labour statistics. First, the global project will provide catalytic support to national child labour surveys to help, both, strengthen national child labour statistics and build national capacity in regular child labour data generation. Second, the global project will support conceptual and methodological development in two of the areas identified in the 18th ICLS resolution concerning the statistics of child labour – worst forms of child labour other than hazardous work and unpaid household services. Third, it will support research on the health effects of child labour, as part of a broader effort towards the effective identification and measurement of hazardous work by children. Fourth, the global project will support development of new technical guidelines for national baseline surveys on specified categories of child labour. Fifth, the global project will support the further development of child labour indicators for research, policy and programme purposes. IPEC shall actively collaborate with national partners and other entities in the implementation of project activities.
