The ILO Programme in the 2010 – 2011 UNAIDS Unified Budget and Workplan
The ILO action within the framework of the proposed programme will focus on developing and enhancing national workplace policy on HIV/AIDS or labour legislation and on promoting HIV/AIDS workplace programmes and action. In undertaking activities, particular importance will be attached to collaboration with, and support to, the tripartite constituents, intersectoral collaboration, gender equality and strengthening the ILO’s knowledge base on HIV/AIDS. The programme will be also mobilised to enhance the ILO’s action to follow up on a new standard on HIV/AIDS which is to be adopted by the ILC in June 2010. The ILO will receive funds for the programme from UNAIDS as one of its Cosponsors. The programme has been formulated within the framework of 2010-11 UNAIDS’ Unified Budget and Workplan (UBW), and is designed to contribute to nine priority areas spelled out in UNAIDS Outcome Framework for 2009-2001. Those include: 1) reducing sexual transmission of HIV; 2) preventing mothers dying and babies from infected with HIV; 3) ensuring treatment of people with HIV; 4) preventing people with HIV from dying of tuberculosis; 5) protecting drug users from infected with HIV; 6) empowering young people to protect themselves from HIV; 7) removing punitive laws; 8) preventing violence against women and girls; and 9) enhancing social protection.
