Communication Campaign in Italy on ILO Activities and Technical Cooperation
The ILO – often with the support and cooperation of specific governments – undertakes significant activities and projects around the world to tackle poverty, promote youth employment, international labour standards, combat child labour etc. in line with its mandate and the ILO’s Decent Work Agenda. The challenge remains, however, to demonstrate to the public key decision makers and governments the scale and nature of the problems that are being addressed, and that there are practical and effective solutions to them. It is essential that those, in targeted communities, understand and support these activities, but it is also very important that the public in the donor countries are aware of the work being undertaken and the progress made. Building on the ILO Rome Branch Office (RBO) experience in the field of communication in Italy, it is hoped that this project will allow the ILO to communicate effectively, transparently and persuasively its challenges and successes to the Italian public, policy makers and constituents, and in doing so, make the case that, with sufficient will and cooperation, these problems can be better understood.
