Un programa mejor para las fabricas: Empresas sensibles al género en Camboya

This project aims for the creation of additional 2-year Better Factories Cambodia programme component on social protection and gender that will strengthen the programme’s capacity to address and integrate social protection elements more holistically to its functions. The programme activities aim at improving the well-being and health of women workers and enhancing gender responsive workplace policies. Promotion of women's participation in workplace level decision making and assisting workers in pre- induction to work and creation of post-factory employment opportunities. Key areas of intervention include: • Promotion of occupational safety and health management systems • Maternal protection and – health during pregnancy (linked to enterprise clinics) • Promotion of exclusive breast feeding • Referral and access to health and social protection services • Access to social and health insurance • HIV/AIDS, hygiene and nutrition awareness • Establishment of gender responsive employment policies and participation of women in social dialogue institutions (including worker and management leadership training) • Support for pre and post garment factory employment i.e. induction training and life skills development • Post industry livelihoods (in particular women’s entrepreneurship) • Promotion of appropriate child care mechanism • child labour prevention
