Improving social protection and promoting employment

The project will contribute to the developpement of a coherent and integrate social protection and employment policy framework in the pilot countries based on sound data and diagnostic tools and with the active participation of the social partners. It will support the achievement of the Millenium Development Goal on poverty reduction in line with the European Consensus on Development and the EU commitment to Decent Work for all, as well as 2008 ILO Declaration on Social Justice for a fair Globalization. Objectives: National Plans to extend social protection coverage and to promote employment will be proposed in the context of a Decent Work Strategies response to the economic Crisis. The results of the national experiences will serve to promote an international campaign to raise awarenesse and exchange good practices on extension of social protection coverage and employment promotion. Expected results: - A diagnosis of the national situation and needs in the areas of social protection and employment prepared in consultation with government agencies and social partners; - National plans are drafted for extension of social protection coverage and employment promotion policies - Policy makers and social actors are capable to use diagnostic tools to prepare national plans on the extension of social protection and employment promotion - Dissemination of experience providing support for the International Campaign for the Extension of Social Protection to All and for the implementation of the Global Employment Agenda.
