Promoting Livelihoods for Persons with Disabilities: Enhanced Skills for Employability and Policy Application in Mongolia
“Promoting Livelihoods for Persons with Disabilities: Enhanced Skills for Employability and Policy Application” aims at providing possibilities for increased income levels of people with disabilities. The project will enhance skills and employability as well as to improve the impact of the new legal framework for promotion of employment of people with disabilities. It will have two main objectives; a) Establish demonstrative models for enhanced employability for persons with disabilities through development of skills and on the job training for formal and informal workplaces; and b) Increase institutional capacity of tripartite constituents and NGO/DPO’s to provide skills and job placement for persons with disabilities, through enhanced knowledge of application of legislation and employability of PWDs. Two to four demonstrative models and approaches of good practice will be developed with national partners—ministry, employers, workers and NGO/DPOs. These demonstrative models will provide support and opportunities to develop experience for increased employability and decent jobs for PWD. This will be done through capacity building, enhancing knowledge on jobs promotion, entrepreneurship and replicating and advertising best practices to other government training centres, enterprises and NGO/DPOs. Capacity building measures will address knowledge base and advocacy of national legislation adapted down to the local level, and its implementation for disability issues and employment of PWD. ILO’s significant knowledge base on employment-related legislation concerning persons with disabilities and the international experience gained from technical cooperation in other countries will be drawn upon.
