Creating Employment Opportunities for Young People
This project proposal requests the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) to co fund a new phase of the Youth Employment Network (YEN) from 2010 to 2012. The new phase will serve to consolidate the successful re-engineering of YEN initiated in early 2008 converting the Secretariat into a service provider with a focused range of tangible products on youth employment. The objective of the new phase of YEN is to provide innovative and value added services on youth employment with a regional focus on West Africa. Key deliverables of the phase will be: - Benchmarking of youth employment policies in YEN lead countries, - Results Measurement on youth employment programs through the YEN Evaluation Clinic which will run rigorous evaluation of six programs in developing countries broadening the evidence on what works, - Replication of YEN’s competitive grant scheme on youth employment as a tool for innovation and youth participation, - Establishment of the electronic YEN marketplace as a tool to broker partnerships among youth employment actors, - Identification and dissemination of successful models of private sector partnerships on youth employment, - Mobilization of additional resources to complement Sida’s funding.
