Strengthening fundamental principles and rights at work in Georgia

Building on the achievements of previous ILO technical assistance, starting with the tripartite agreement in December 2008 to set up an ad hoc tripartite committee, to the high-level roundtable discussion on the necessary labour law reforms in October 2009, and the Prime Minister’s decree in December 2009 to institutionalize tripartite dialogue, this project aims to support the set-up and effective functioning of tripartism and social dialogue. To this end, technical assistance seeks to transform the Prime Minister’s decree to an independent and well functioning tripartite advisory board; to facilitate the development of regional tripartism; to guide the members of national and regional tripartite committees to engage themselves in a transparent and inclusive social dialogue process; and to establish a Commission for Conciliation and Mediation to better resolve and prevent industrial disputes.
