Promotion of Responsible and Sustainable Business Practices through Business Education
The Global Jobs Pact cites the ILO MNE Declaration "Tripartite Declaration of Principles concerning Multinational Enterprises and Social Policy" as an important instrument for business responding effectively and responsible to the crisis. Revised in 2006, the MNE Declaration provides guidance to MNEs, government and employers' and workers' organizations in areas such as employment, training, conditions of work and life and industrial relations. Business schools, as educators of future managers and business leaders, play an important role in promoting responsible business practices. However, social and labour policy is often not included in core business school curricula. Bringing together learning institutions the project is meant to: a) raise awarenesss of the fundamental principles and rights at work, b) share information on how business schools are incorporating concepts of decent work, c) identify ways in which ILO and business schools can work together in this area.
