Policy framework & mechanisms for safe migration and universal access for migrant workers

The objective of this project is to develop a comprehensive safe migration and health protection intervention model which addresses migrant workers’, and among them particularly female migrant workers and their partners’, vulnerabilities to HIV infection and need for universal access throughout the migration process and at community level. The strategy and planned outcome of the project are that at the end of the project a policy framework and implementation mechanism for safe migration and universal access for migrant workers throughout the migration process and in communities of origin will have been developed, tested and adopted. Activities include the: development of a policy framework and implementation mechanism for safe migration and universal access for migrant workers in the placement process (training, testing and return) and in communities of origin; capacity-building of stakeholders and service providers in the placement process. The project will target 2 pilot provinces, 4 pilot districts and a number of communities of origin for migrant workers.
