Supporting the reform of Haiti's labor administration and the revision of its national labor code within the framework of the Better Work Haiti program

This project is complementary to the Better Work Haiti programme. It aims at contributing to the strengthening of good governance and the rule of law in Haiti, which is crucial to the development of the private sector in the context of reconstruction. Improving the effectiveness of labor administration and labor legislation will not only ensure better protection of workers, but also promote higher productivity at work, for the benefit of all. The two immediate objectives of the project are: (i) to advance the reform of Haiti’s labor code and prepare a first draft labor code by training a group of officials from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor on the necessary skills to revise legislative documents in clear and precise terms and by promoting social dialogue; and (ii) to modernize and to promote a dynamic functioning of the Haiti’s labor administration and inspection by developing professional skills of staff and managers and by introducing a more efficient and effective organizational structure.
