Promoting decent work and policy coherence in the multilateral system
The projects aims at exploring the opportunities opened up by recent developments in order to more firmly project productive employment and decent work into the policy thinking and operations of key multilateral partners. Project activities will add on to key on-going multilateral processes. Those activities will cover: 1. support to broadening the scope and depth of existing collaboration between the ILO and main multilateral partners, especially the IMF, with a view at demonstrating the benefits of such collaboration in formulating coherent and effective economic and social policies; 2. spearheading of research, case studies and reviews of policy lessons for dissemination across experts and practitioners, with a view at setting building blocks for development policy frameworks that are more centered on productive employment and decent work as a tool to bridge growth and equity; 3. advocacy for productive employment and decent work in major forthcoming UN conferences – eg the Fourth UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries to be held in Istanbul on 9-12 May 2011 (LDC4); 4. policy dialogue and consultations on issues and options for coherence across the multilateral system in connection with the initiative on a fairer and greener globalization led by the UN CEB High-Level Committee on Programme (HLCP).
