Promoting jobs within the framework of the Seoul Development Consensus: Country experience and global perspective
The main objectives of the proposed project are to: (1) assess the extent to which the Seoul Development Consensus, to which the G20 member countries committed themsevles, is endorsed by the policymakers in the developing countries and would go beyond a rhetoric; and (2) identify strategic area for policy actions that can be supported by the ILO's employment policy advisory work. The envisaged outputs are: 6 short papers to be submitted for the purpose of an international conference (tentatively planned for end November 2011), which will be synthesized into a conference proceeding; 4-5 country case studies in EMP/CEPOL's pipeline countries (including potential countries for 2012-2013) or the least developed countries identified by the UN, to assess and coordinate the strategic fit between the G20's development agenda, national development agenda, and the ILO's decent work agenda. The proposed country coverage in the project is tentative and subject to change.
