Creating jobs: capacity building for local resource-based road works in selected districts of Aceh and Nias (Phase III)

The UNDP/ILO project entitled “Creating jobs: Capacity building for local resource-based road works in selected districts in NAD and Nias – Phase III: Capacity building and sustainable strategy for the management of road assets at district level in Aceh, has been prepared only for the Aceh cluster, covering two Aceh districts, Pidie and Bireuen. The current project builds on the achievements from the previous phase and seeks to implement additional road rehabilitation infrastructure works to improve connectivity in order to support local economic development as requested by the two districts. As such, the project seeks to ensure that the LRB approaches that have been successfully demonstrated over the last five years will be sustained and the lessons learned will be mainstreamed – not only in Aceh Province, but also in other parts of Indonesia – and incorporated in the Government’s infrastructure investment strategies and programmes, including the Labour-Intensive Infrastructure Programme of the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration.
