Enhanced action against forced labour in Asia and the Pacific
In line with ILO’s overall strategy to eradicate forced labour, this project aims at strengthening action in the region with the highest prevalence of forced labour while also building on the emerging political consensus that forced labour and trafficking should not be tolerated in either global supply chains or in more traditional employment relationships. The action will directly feed into the four priority areas of ILO’s work at the global level, namely a) policy development, b) development of innovative research products and guidance tools, c) advisory services and capacity building, and d) knowledge sharing. Each of these four pillars is aimed at building an intervention which will demonstrate a reduction of forced labour at country, regional and global levels. ILO’s strategy against forced labour is based on the assumption that strong national institutions and capacity are essential to move forward on the elimination of forced labour.
