Gender mainstreaming in the ILO Norway Partnership Agreement in Regional Arab States

Following on from the activities undertaken under different phases of the Norway/ILO Partnership throughout 2008-2011, the project will focus on ensuring that the work of the Norway/ILO Partnership Agreement in Arab States is gender mainstreamed: i.e. that “women’s as well as men’s concerns form an integral dimension of the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation” of the ILO’s work in Arab States, so that “women and men benefit equally and inequality is not perpetuated.” Under the Norway/ILO PA, GENDER will work with ILO colleagues and constituents in select Arab States to ensure that work being undertaken in the following areas is gender mainstreamed: • Labour administration and labour inspection, • Promoting freedom of association and collective bargaining
