Sub-regional Capacity Development Training on Disaster Response for the Pacific

11. This joint project proposal by ROAP, ILO/CRISIS and the ILO’s Office for Pacific Island Countries aims to contribute to building capacity of the governments both at the central and local levels, as well as trade unions and employers’ organizations. 12. In doing so, this project aims at enhancing the social safety nets, especially livelihoods and employment, for the people living in the Pacific countries prone to natural hazards i.e. the ultimate beneficiaries. 13. This will be achieved by conducting an innovative style of training over four day training covering Pre-disaster Recovery Planning various topic related to protection and recovery of employment and livelihoods from disasters namely 14. The four day training will be conducted in an innovative way having general plenary sessions attended by all participants (normally in the morning hours but the agenda is tbc), Followed by a series of simultaneous training workshops covering the four thematic areas, namely: • Pre-disaster planning, • Assessment impact of disasters on employment, • Post crisis recovery of employment, livelihood and social protection, • Basic principles and conceptual basis of Local Economic Recovery (LER) in post crisis-settings, • Multi-hazard Business Continuity Planning
