Better Work Stage III - Improving workers' health in eight factories in Cambodia through HERproject
Firstly, American Eagle Outfitters (AEO) supports the rollout of HERproject in all 4 factories that AEO is currently sourcing from in Cambodia. Additionally, AEO can support 4 additional factories that Better Work identifies based on worker needs and adequate factory management buy-in. Secondly, a video highlighting AEO’s engagement and resulting impact on workers lives will serve as a call for action to other brands. The video would be launched at a Buyers forum and then broadly shared through social media and other means. HERproject uses a peer education model to raise awareness and improve links to relevant services for workers. HERproject was initially conceived of to improve female factory workers’ health knowledge, and to improve workers’ access to reproductive health services in factory clinics or nearby external service centers. HERproject training activities, materials and impacts are locally driven and respond to local needs. Better Work brings global perspective and staff, proximity to the private sector and knowledge of supply chains as effective entry points for training and women’s empowerment to deliver meaningful impact. We work closely with carefully selected local partners to design and deliver program content.
