Empowering marginalised and vulnerable populations through community based entrepreneurship development Phase II

Community-Based Enterprise Development (C-BED) is an ILO training tool that builds the capacity of current or aspiring entrepreneurs to start or improve their businesses without requiring external trainers or facilitators. C-BED’s simple design enables community facilitators to guide training sessions by providing instructions for participant-driven individual and group activities. Consequently implementation of C-BED is very low cost and has great utility in poor, vulnerable or marginalised communities traditionally inaccessible due to social or geographical isolation. While the main intervention area under the phase I was to target communities most-at-risk of HIV/AIDS, the main intervention area under the phase II is to build the capacity of NGOs providing social safety net services to deliver skills training to current or aspiring entrepreneurs. Through the capacitation of NGOs, microfinance institutes and private sector partners, the project primarily benefits women, young people, migrants, and refugees, with special attention focused on the most vulnerable including people living below the poverty line, people with disabilities, and HIV/AIDS affected population.
