Support to ACI 2: Jobs and skills for youth - Global Product
Project Executive Summary: The objective of the ILO/Sida Partnership ACI 2 Programme is: “ILO member states develop policies and programmes that meet the youth employment challenge”. The Programme will focus on the strategy of the area of critical importance “Jobs and skills for youth” (ACI 2) by supporting countries to develop and implement integrated employment policies and programmes, with youth employment as priority. The overall aim of the programme is to increase evidence on “what works” for youth employment with a view to contribute to addressing the challenge of creating and improving livelihoods, through employment, of low-income and under-employed young people, particularly those working in subsistence jobs in the informal economy. The programme will assist in the development of interventions to improve livelihoods of young people in selected ODA countries. The Programmes includes country initiatives and a global product. All components of the Programme will aim at achieving the above mentioned objective. (i) The global product will develop the knowledge base of the ILO on the situation of the young working poor and strengthen capacity of ILO constituents on the multi-faced area of youth employment. (ii) The design and implementation of the country-level initiatives is developed around context-specific priorities and situations and guided by the core principles included in the resolution “The youth employment crisis: A call for action” (ILC 2012).
