Livelihood Promotion for Refugees in Selected Countries

The objective of the cooperation between UNHCR and ILO is to integrate the results and recommendations of an ILO enterprise support and market system analyses into UNHCR Livelihoods Programming in order to inform and strengthen the impact and sustainability of UNHCR livelihood interventions. The result should ultimately enable refugee populations to engage in employment and entrepreneurial opportunities, while having at all times continued access to protection systems and support services including career counselling, entrepreneurship training, child care services and grant assistance, that facilitate graduation from one step to the next. The ultimate goal is for the refugees to gain greater self-reliance. UNHCR has requested ILO’s assistance in the area of livelihoods and market systems development and will accompany the programme on the ground in selected countries and from HQ in Geneva.
