Support GSP+ beneficiary countries to effectively implement ILS and comply with reporting obligations. Pakistan

The project aims to support the application of ILO’s Fundamental Conventions and Human Rights in Pakistan by strengthening the institutional capacity of the national and provincial Governments to facilitate the enactment of relevant labour laws and effectively enforce existing relevant labour laws with ILO’s technical assistance. The intervention focuses particularly on enhancing the capacity of the Government and stakeholders on their respective reporting obligations, strengthening the capacity of the institutions for improved implementation of the existing policies and legislation; and producing relevant analytical analysis for effective application of the Conventions and relevant labour legislation in the provinces. This project puts a particular emphasis on the implementation of the provisions of the Equal Remuneration Convention, 1951 (No. 100) and the Discrimination (Employment and Occupation) Convention, 1958 (No. 111) with a view to addressing the comments made by the ILO supervisory bodies. In this regard, the project focuses on the improvement of the capacity of Federal and Provincial Statistical Departments and Provincial Labour Departments to mainstream gender in the data collection process and on the improvement of workers’ and employers’ organizations and National Human Rights Institutions in order to increase their advocacy capacity on equal opportunity and treatment in employment and discrimination in the world of work.
