Towards improved formal and non-formal TVET in Lebanon
The proposed partnership between ILO and UNICEF aims to further join efforts towards improving the formal and non-formal technical and vocational education and training in Lebanon in order to respond to the youth needs within the current socio-economic context. It will ensure close collaboration with other UN agencies engaging in the TVET sector as well as other relevant organisations and initiatives. The direct recipients of this collaboration are vocational training related departments within the Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Labour and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) providing vocational training, which will benefit from targeted technical assistance, institutional development and capacity building interventions. This will ultimately improve their approach and methodologies in dealing and collaborating with private sector to develop more adapted skills development programmes based on needs. This partnership is suggested to achieve the following: Outcome I: A clear roadmap and action plan toward strengthened quality and inclusive capacity of TVET system as per market needs for an improved employability and fulfilled aspirations of youth. Outcome II: Improved linkages of training outcomes for Lebanese and non-Lebanese youth to skills and market requirements for better access to the labour market Outcome III: Enhanced institutional planning and functioning of formal training centres for higher effectiveness, efficiency and sustainability of conducive coping measures to satisfy the labour supply and demand.
