UN Trade Cluster Tanzania, Exit Phase
Phase 1 showed positive results by demonstrating how it is possible to improve responsible backward linkages from the tourism sector to Tanzanian producers, processors and skills training institutions. The sustainability of these results can now be assured by promoting these results and deepening their foothold. The Exit Phase Project is designed as a final phase (follow-up phase with a phasing out strategy) and takes up key recommendations of the ROM evaluations and the end phase evaluation. It has a strong focus on sustainability. It is proposing to consolidate the activities of Phase I (pilot project) in order to achieve sustainable results in the specific fields of intervention. Therefore, the overall objective of the country project in Tanzania is “to improve the livelihoods (including income, competitiveness and market integration) of Tanzanians through a greater adoption of market value chains for agro-products and Responsible Tourism Criteria based on the local context for Tourism markets.”
