Promoting Women in Business and Management - The Role of Employers Organisations
The WIBM Global Report identifies a number of areas where EO’s can take actions to further promote women in business and management. These include: ¿ awareness raising on the business case for gender equality and diversity, ¿ developing strategies and action plans to promote WIBM internally and for members, ¿ advising and supporting EO company members to implement practical measures to support the advancement of women in management and leadership, including addressing challenges in managing a diverse workforce, ¿ identifying mechanisms to ensure more women participate on boards and management positions of member companies as well as within EO’s themselves, ¿ developing strategic partnerships with women entrepreneur associations to give them a greater voice on policy issues, ¿ policy advocacy on legal frameworks that can promote women’s access to decision-making in the private sector. In the follow-up phase of WIBM work, the focus will be on further promoting the business case for WIBM among EO’s and member companies and developing tools that will help EO’s to better assist their members to respond to rapidly changing gender roles in the business environment. Key elements of the strategy will include building an informal network/community of practice of employers’ organizations committed to promoting WIBM and helping them move the agenda forward in their respective environments as well as to guide ACT/EMP work and share experiences and ideas.
