2016 Social Protection
Through a partnership between the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), the International Labour Office (ILO) has developed a series of case studies exploring the link between climate change and social protection policies in several countries (Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Egypt, the Philippines and around the Sahel region). Based upon the variety of approaches examined and in line with the ILO’s own Guidelines for a just transition, the partners will develop interventions designed to leverage social protection both i) to protect populations at increased risk of climate-related hardship and ii) to facilitate the “just transition” of national economies toward more sustainable growth models.
