Promoting improvements in working conditions and management of garment workshops in São Paulo.

The project promotes improvements on working conditions of garment workshops in Sao Paulo state, influencing structural changes in the way labour intensive supply chains are managed in this sector. To do this, the project will work with two complementary and intertwined approaches focusing on two distinct types of directs beneficiaries: 1) Promoting awareness and empowerment of vulnerable populations, such as sewing workshop workers, especially migrants, women, youngsters and children so that these groups will be better positioned to demand labour rights, decent work conditions and to clearly identify and denounce human rights violations. 2) Promote risk awareness and mangerial training of sewing workshop owners - espcially from micro, small and medium enterprises - as a way to stimulate supply chain integrated risk management especially in respect to compliance with labour rights, and specifically concerning working conditions, gender equality, women empowerment and economic autonomy, and formalisation, when applicable.
