Improving working conditions in the ready-made garment sector RMGP – Phase 2.
The programme will help improve industry safety and working conditions. It will ground gender equality into institutional practices and support the empowerment of women workers. At the same time the initiative will help foster business competitiveness and assist the Government of Bangladesh and the industry in its pursuit to achieve a 50 billion United Stated Dollars RMG export sector by 2021. The second phase builds on the achievements of the first to achieve four closely linked objectives: · All factories under the National Initiative will have either successfully undergone remediation or ceased to operate · The capacity of the Government of Bangladesh to regulate industrial safety will have been enhanced and an effective labour inspection system will be in place. · The regulatory environment governing OSH will have been strengthened and OSH practices in the RMG industry further enhanced. · Working conditions and compliance in the RMG industry will have improved though the actions of Better Work Bangladesh
