Improving Livelihoods for Palestine Refugees in Lebanon; Better Access, More Opportunities, Enhanced Capacities
UNRWA and ILO wish to continue its collaboration in developing the Field’s approach for youth self-employment to facilitate their entry to the labour force within the context of the two-year project, funded by the Netherlands, entitled “Improving Livelihoods for Palestibe Refugees: better access, more opportunities, enhanced capacities”. The project specifically will contribute to fostering entrepreneurial culture by promoting entrepreneurship education and awareness among the youth and providing them with the necessary non-financial support to start sustainable small enterprises and create decent job opportunities. The Project will also support two Community Based Organizations (CBOs), B/Barajneh and Beddawi, to become sustainable social enterprises. Based on the recommendations of the situation analysis of the Agency’s non financial services for self-employment, this Project will include three components: 1) Development of Entrepreneurship Education at UNRWA vocational training centres through integration of ILO curriculum of “know about business” (KAB) in all trade and semi-professional courses at BT and BS levels. 2) Development of the capacity of employment services centres (ESC) and micro-credit community support program (MCSP) staff in training youth and entrpreneurs in “generate your business idea (GYB) and start and improve your business (SIYB)” using ILO curriclum for each. 3) Build the capacity of two CBOs, Beddawi and B/Barajneh, to operate as social enterprise for sustainability.
