Skills for Improvement of Livelihoods, Economic Opportunites and Security
The Project will provide assistance to the government-run TVET institutions, i.e. GTI and GTHS by improving their capacities in management, organization, delivery and monitoring of selected short-term training programmes and ensure that the programmes link with the economic and skills needs of the locality and the private sector industries. Whilst the selection of target sectors will be included in the assessment during initial project implementation, available literature indicate that the service industry of tourism and the manufacturing industries of agro-food, fishery could have future prospects for value added economic opportunity and employment. The need arising from the industries that will locate in the economic zones will also be considered. The choice of potential target sectors will also take account of existing ILO projects’ sectoral coverage such as tourism, construction and agriculture.
