The ILO and PBSO programme to sustain peace and foster development through employment creation in conflict-affected situations

The main objective of this project is to contribute to sustaining peace by advocating for pro-employment strategies and implementing concrete employment and decent work programmes that are targeting youth in fragile, conflict-affected and disaster-prone communities and countries. The outcomes of this project are: More youth in conflict-affected countries engaged in meaningful pro-peace employment by increasing resources from PBF and other UN funds with an employment mandate in partnership with the ILO JPR flagship programme; Strengthened institutions in conflict-affected countries (central and local government, workers’ and employers’ organizations and value-based civil society organizations) that actively participate in social dialogue on employment and labour-related issues, contributing to sustaining peace and the achievements of SDGs 8 and 16, by increasing the share of ILO programmes with such a focus; Enhanced ILO and PBSO capacity to mainstream employment and decent work particularly for youth in peacebuilding dialogues and policies at global level (both in New York and Geneva) to feed the UN system with new instruments and holistic approaches addressing conflict-affected and fragile situations and protracted crises.
