Enhancing social partners' and social dialogue's roles and capacity in the new world of work

This project aims to adopt a longer term view of the major challenges facing social partners as a result of the changing world of work, challenges that Governments, trade unions and employers' organisations had several opportunities to discuss at the International Labour Office. These changes are shaping employment prospects and working conditions of people around Europe and beyond, while also altering the environment for enterprises. In achieving these objectives, research and capacity building activities will be carried out under a number of thematic areas that will have to be defined after a consultative process with the social partners and representatives of social dialogue institutions. The four following areas are initially proposed for social partners' own assessment: a) the potential role and response of social dialogue actors and institutions to digitalisation/robotisation; b) the strategies and responses of social dialogue actors and institutions to the emergence of nonstandard forms of employment (NSFE) and interruption of career along working life; c) the adaptation and role of social dialogue actors and institutions to outsourcing, subcontracting along supply chains; and d) the strategies of social dialogue actors and institutions and the effectiveness of social dialogue to cover the silver economy while ensuring intergenerational solidarity.
