Inclusive Insurance Market Development in Rwanda
This two year partnership between the ILO’s Impact Insurance Facility (the Facility) and the Access to Finance Rwanda (AFR) increases the access and usage of insurance by low income households and micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in Rwanda as well as reduces their vulnerability and improves their productivity in the face of a diversity of shocks. To achieve this, the following activities are carried out: Support ASSAR to strengthen its capacity and the implementation of a business model for training and consumer education; Build the capacity of the insurance industry, financial service providers and distribution channels including the training of trainers to guarantee sustainability and integration to ASSAR.While the proposed activities address some of the key supply and demand constraints, this approach is designed to systematically create a sustainable insurance market in Rwanda and to complement other interventions by AFR.
